University of Florida

Choosing a college is about more than academics, rankings, or campus facilities. It's about finding a place where you can imagine yourself belonging. Working with the advertising agency BVK, we helped the University of Florida tell three short stories through the voices of a student and two professors, combining remote interviews with playful, scrapbook-inspired animation.

The Challenge

Prospective students are surrounded by college marketing. Beautiful campuses, impressive facilities, and promises of opportunity can start to feel interchangeable.

The University of Florida wanted to highlight what made its community special through authentic interviews and engaging visuals. But traditional live-action production presented a challenge. Filming three people on location, along with supporting footage, would require more time and resources than the project allowed. We needed a way to make the stories feel authentic, visually interesting, and personal without a full production crew.

‍

The Story We Found

Rather than telling audiences what made the University of Florida special, we let the people who knew it speak for themselves. Through three remotely recorded interviews, we explored different sides of the university experience.

Through these remote interviews, we encouraged our interviewee to speak on 3 things: human connections, the environment and opportunities. Together, these stories helped prospective students and their families imagine what being part of the university community might feel like.

‍

How We Told It

We recorded three interviews remotely, keeping the process simple and requiring only about 30 minutes from each participant. From those conversations, we developed three 30-second films, each with its own visual narrative.

Rather than relying on traditional interview footage and campus b-roll, we created animated collages using photography, cutout imagery, and graphic elements. The scrapbook-inspired style gave the films a sense of nostalgia for parents and guidance counselors while maintaining an energetic, optimistic feeling for prospective students. It was a way to make the university feel both familiar and full of possibility.

The Outcomes

based on trust, not just metrics

The project gave the University of Florida three engaging, interview-driven films without the time and logistical demands of a full on-location shoot. By combining real voices with imaginative animation, we created content designed to connect with both prospective students and the people helping them make their college decisions.

The project demonstrated that meaningful stories don't always require elaborate productions. Sometimes all you need is a good conversation and an interesting way to bring it to life.

Making The Story

Working alongside BVK, we developed a remote interview process that allowed each participant to remain in Florida while we handled the creative production.

After recording the interviews, we edited each conversation into a focused 30-second narrative. We then developed custom visual frames inspired by each person's topic, combining University of Florida photography with stock imagery and cutout-style animation. The final films blended authentic voices, unexpected imagery, and playful movement to give each story a distinctive personality.
